After a few days in Paris, the next week I will be in Rome, where with Netwo we are organizing a meeting to discuss the future of the mobile Web.

Mobile web applications have a huge potential, while there still are a few pitfalls: the devices are not so user-friendly (I’m talking about my not-so-old Nokia UMTS phone and its weird interface), bandwidth is going to be an issue with the growth of the users base and charges are not (yet?) cheap.

A great resource will be the interconnection with other technologies (WI-FI in primis) that is going to create a new interesting landscape for us to create new services. This is going to enable new services like localization, media sharing and many others.
We will discuss this field with some experts working for mobile operators, WI-FI operators, service and application providers. There is a huge interest in this field, and we’ve found a nice group of people, I’m really excited about that.
You can read more (in Italian) on the Netwo’s blog. There are still some invites available, drop me a line if you’re interested in participating.
